India’s automotive industry is one of the key drivers of the country’s economy. The availability of skilled manpower to service the ever growing vehicle population – is seen as a critical area where there is a gap between the industry’s requirements and supply in the market. To address this gap Shell Foundation started with vocational skill training in automotive courses (two-wheeler & three-wheeler mechanic) which train youth to become auto mechanics. We also offer Light Motor Vehicle driving course at our vocational centre.
Domesting Wiring & Motor Rewinding:
The requirement for labour in the Construction industry is second most after agriculture in India. Shortage of skilled labour is one of the biggest challenges of construction companies. Shell Foundation launched the electrician program to train youth in courses such as domestic wiring and agriculture motor rewinding. In our Electrician program, more than 95% of our students have been either placed with construction firms or have taken up self-employment. With an emphasis on practical training, we have set up electrical lab for our students to gain hands-on experience while training.
We also teach Spoken english, Life skills and IT skills in all our youth programs – these are real-world skills that increase self-confidence and employability.
